Hummer - a light tactical vehicle

Hummer SUV– a vehicle that is instantly recognizable for its shape and design. In the early 1980s, these vehicles were originally built for military use. It was designed to serve as the military's main light tactical vehicle. They were created under a contract for the United States armed forces. The first model, the Hum-Vee, was built in a variety of military-based equipment and versions. These included troop carriers, gun turrets and radar.

General Motors bought the rights to the Hummer brand name in 1999 and was responsible for the development, marketing and distribution of Hummer SUVs. The Civilian models come in a few types: Hummer H1-the pickup truck, the Hummer H2 - the second vehicle in the Hummer range. There are two models available: H2 SUV and H2 SUT. The Hummer H3 is the smallest of the Hummer models which is based on the GMT355 platform shared with the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon compact pickup trucks.

Hummer models

Hummer H1 based on the High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (Hum-Vee) was the first car in the Hummer range. Originally released in 1992, this vehicle was designed by American Motors' AM General subsidiary for the U.S. Military. The Hummer H1 series have three varieties: a convertible-like soft top, a four-door hard top pickup truck and a Wagon body version. The Hummer H1 shares something in common with its Hum-Vee, such as brakes, axles, frame and major body panels, hood, tailgate and quarter panels are identical between the Hum-Vee and the Hummer H1.

The original Hummer, Hummer H1, was sold for a few years as the brand's flagship vehicle. It stopped the manufacture after 2006, but Hummer has been expanding its vehicle ranges and since have the vehicles that still possess the bold and gallant Hummer but with more civilized touch. Till 2009, no two-wheel drive Hummers are offered at this time.

The Hummer H2 attracts a lot upwardly mobile individuals who seek new and fashionable entertainment. This concept vehicle features an Epic video system with four screens built into the headrests, a Directed Electronics widescreen monitor with wireless headphones, upgraded amplifiers and speakers, a DVD player, an automotive digital media player and a game system.

The recent economy impact results in pending of production on Hummer vehicles. General Motors plans to halt production of Hummer H3 models at its Shreveport plant in Louisiana until the sale of the brand to China's Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery Company closes.
